How this cat made it into the stadium, and then onto the pitch I have no idea LOL
New York Rangers in action tonight, last game before all-star break and the USWNT take on Mexico. REVENGE TIME from the World Cup qualifiers last year.
So after watching the USA Women National team defeat the Dominican Women National 14-0 it was really bothering me that the announcers were so mad that Pia Sundhage( USA Head Coach) celebrated every goal with her coaching staff.
This is PROFESSIONAL sports, not little league. Also, this is our National team, the best of our country vs the best of other countries. There should NEVER be letting up, or just controlling the ball and not scoring. This is a tournament, and the Olympic qualifying tournament. Yes, I understand Women’s soccer is not as developed as Men’s, but the USA trains and is trained to WIN and win BIG.
The only people to blame here are the people from CONCACAF, they should not have made this an eight team tourney if the #8 team is THIS far behind the #1 team.
Sporting Kansas has added Chad Ochocinco to their reserve team. Thoughts?
Yesterday was a busy day for USA teams. The USMNT, USWNT, U-17 MNT and the USA hockey team were all in action yesterday.
On the Ice USA showed dominance; out shooting Switzerland 44-19. Jonas Hiller was
on point; stopping 42 of those American shots. It was scoreless going into the 3rd, when Zach Parise of the New Jersey Devils scored twice to secure the USA their 4th straight win and a spot in the semi-finals. The guys will be back on the ice tomorrow when they take on Finland. That game will be getting underway at 3:00PM EST.
To the pitch we go. the United States U-17 MNT played right before the USMNT took the field in the first game of the double header. I didn’t watch or follow this game, but the guys were able to take down Mexico 4-1.
The USMNT took on El Salvador last night in an International Friendly. El Salvador had two shots on goal all game, but their first one in the 59th minute gave them a 1-0 lead. It would only take the US 16 minutes to put the equalizer in when Brian Ching scored in the 75 minute. It looked like the game was going to end in a draw, but Sacha Kljestan was able to score in stoppage time and secure USA their 3rd straight comeback win over El Salvador.
“Brian played great. He caused so much havoc for them. He just worked so hard off the ball, created chances and scored a very nice goal. He was very good for us tonight.” - EDDIE GAVEN, U.S. Men’s National Team Midfielder
The USMNT are in Portugal competing in the 2010 Algarve Cup. Their opening game was against Iceland, who they shut out 2-0. Hope Solo was the story of the match, she successfully stopped two penalty shots. The women will be back on the field tomorrow at 10am EST, when they face Norway. You can follow the match on ussoccer.com.
